Longford
Please call the facility to enquire whether a man with a van service is allowed there. Some recycling facilities are for domestic use only. You may require advanced permission for vans. Although some items are free to recycle using a car, different rates may apply to vans. Ring ahead and enquire. When looking for a man with a van to remove waste to this recycling facility, choose the "recycle" option in the job type part of the form, this will mean the man with a van does this type of work and has permission to move recycled goods. It is an offence to do this type of work without a permission to move recycled goods. Although this may be the closest recycling facility to you, the man with a van company may have permission to use another facility. When talking to the van company, please ask whether they have permission to unload recycled waste. Please be mindful that if a quote is very cheap they may be unlawfully disposing of the recyclables. It is your responsibility to ensure this does not happen. Some facilities operate a weigh bridge, some charge per load and others charge for various items. The man with a van that contacts you should be able to give you a price for what's to be moved. This will come from their experience. If they are unsure, perhaps come to an agreement that you will pay the recycling fees and pay the operator a fee for the service of moving it to the facility.

What is the Civic Amenity Centre? The Civic Amenity Centre, custom-built site where householders can bring a wide range of materials for recycling or disposal where necessary. The Civic Amenity Centre is operated and managed by Oxigen Environmental. Where is the Civic Amenity Centre? Travelling into Athy, on the N9, from Kilcullen/Naas direction: Turn right at King Oil, down the small avenue next to the forecourt of the service station. KCC Athy Roads Depot at bottom of avenue, Athy Civic Amenity Centre to the right. How is the centre used? There is a separate container or skip for each type of material at the Civic Amenity Centre. All materials must be segregated. Remember that wet or dirty material can contaminate other dry recyclables. When this happens nothing can be recycled, and the whole load has to be sent to landfill for disposal. Points to remember: Electrical goods are free of charge; Recyclables should be clean and dry; no food waste, dirt, or waste products; All food and detergent containers should be washed out thoroughly; food waste attracts pests, and detergents may be harmful to other people; Boxes, cartons and tetra-pak must be flattened before depositing in their designated skips; All plastic and polystyrene must be separated from cardboard; Make sure you put the correct material in the correct container. Chargeable Materials: Wood: Garden, Hardwood Flooring, Doors; Bulky Items: Furniture, Carpets; General Waste: Domestic refuse; Soil, Stones: Bricks, Paving, Concrete, Soil; Metals: Bicycles, Scrap Metal, Radiators; Green Garden Waste: Grass, Hedge Clippings, Plants; Gas Cylinders: Place all cylinders upright; Fire Extinguishers: Must be discharged; Waste Oils: Cooking Oil, Motor Oil; Household Hazardous Waste Paint, Old Medicine, Strippers/Thinners, Detergents/Bleaches; Domestic Recyclables (Car €2.25, Car and Trailer/Van/Jeep €4.50). Nowadays it is possible to recycle almost anything, and Ireland has been working to make it easier for people to dispose of their reusable items. There are clothes banks, bottle banks and electrical bring centres all over the country
You can check out our listing of recycling centres close to you.
Vanquotes.ie makes this easy. You can check out our Recycling Centre listings and find one that’s close to you. The chances are this will be the one that the man and van may bring your unwanted items but not all recycling centres allow vans to do this commercially. They may have to go to one that they have permission, and this may be more local to them than you. A quick call to the recycling centre will answer this but please be sure to mention it’s a commercial van. You can also do this by filling out the online form at vanquotes.ie and drivers who have a permit or permission will get back to you with a quote.
Before moving home, even before packing, the first thing to do is to is a clear out. Van drivers will tell you of countless times they move items from the old house to the new, only to be asked to dispose of a sofa or a mattress that they have just transported. A double lift and it takes up precious limited space in a van. In articles on tips for moving the first thing mentioned is often to do a clear out.
